Negotiation...

Alhamdulillah, thanks to Allah for giving me another chance to breathe for another new day.

I have another session with Mr. Hisham which is "The Art of Negotiation Skills". The session was a two days session. At the beginning of the session, we learnt about all the theories of the negotiation. It include the BATNA (best alternative to negotiated agreement), ZOPA (zone of possible agreement), reservation prize and value creation.

We are divided into six new groups and I am in group 4. There are three situations of negotiation which is the first situation is the situation between employee and employer, second is about landlord and tenant and lastly between son and parents. Each situation was acted by each group, two group for one situation. My group acted as landlord paired with group 3 that acted as the tenant. This activity was meant to test the student creativity in negotiation as well as in acting.

In negotiation session also, Zahirah and I shared our story about any situation whereby we need to negotiate with other people. My story was about buying a wristwatch. The usual price of the wristwatch is RM 180. After 20% discount, the wristwatch price is RM 140. I negotiated with the seller in order to get the wristwatch at lower price. Finally, I got the wristwatch at RM 100.

In another activity whereby Zahirah and I had to create a situation and it is again about negotiation. After create the situation, we need to choose other student to act according to the situation. We chose Aliff and Kartini to act our situation. The situation is the negotiation between husband and wife about the plan to have another child.

Through this session, we learnt how to make the deal or negotiation successful and the outcome of the negotiation is a win-win situation.
